beauty in hope for a new year
It hit me when I was on a seester date this evening, driving around looking at christmas lights (something I haven't done in years), that I should make more things like that happen in my life. And I started thinking about the new year, and how many things that I've wanted to do in this city, but just haven't made the time for. So I started a list. I'm going to keep it short. 12 things- one for each month, so that it's not too much to keep me busy, but enough to keep pushing myself. It's making me feel very hopeful.

Starting to look
There's so much sadness. I'm going to start looking for beauty in the little things; things that may not be all that earth-shattering or noticeable to others, but that make my outlook on life better and brighter. This is my holy experiment.
So this brings me here, trying to follow what my lover says, "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" [Phil 4:8].
