it is good to be the winner, sometimes.

Munchkin game=totally hilarious!
I like squashing people.

Oh how He loves us so lyrics

"How He loves us"
by John Mark Mcmillan

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us so

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves us, Oh how He loves.

A prayer written in times of persecution

I recently came across this prayer, and have been very inspired and encouraged by it:

Ignatius of Antioch

My desires are crucified,
the warmth of my body is gone.
A stream flows,
whispering inside me;
Deep within me it says:
Come to the Father.

green eyes

I've never been a huge fan of cats...
Kittens are cute.
But they grow up to be arrogant animals.

This one, however, seems to be showing a curiosity, not an arrogance, that just fascinates me.
I just want to stare back at this cat, inquisitively, and maybe poke it. :)

beautiful letdown

I have loved this album by Switchfoot for years. And the concept of the title "the beautiful letdown" has always appealed to me in a lovely melancholy sort of way. In the words of the frontman, "this collection of songs is an honest attempt to understand our world, to come to terms with what life is about."

here's an address to listen to the song:

accomplishment

Sometimes all I can do is something very tiny.
But a sense of accomplishment is, in my opinion, akin to the sense of appreciation I feel for something beautiful.
So that is my celebration today: a tiny accomplishment.

courage

It is something I am lacking. I would rather sit in my safe little bubble than step out to do something I am scared to do. I am not feeling courageous. And yet I long to take risks; I just feel paralysed.

Is there any beauty in this situation?
Well... the goal of this blog is to look for the beauty in my daily life.
So...here goes:
  • There really is beauty in the grace that has been given to me
  • There is beauty in compassion (related, but not quite the same)
  • It is beautiful that others have confidence in me.
  • Others are not looking down on me for feeling paralyzed: that's beautiful
Ok. I'm seeing some beauty again.

new acquaintance

The positive attitude of a stranger I had the pleasure of meeting yesterday was beautiful.

What a fascinating conversation.

What he has to offer to a child of his own someday...
It's too much to try to describe it further.

the beauty of interacting with others

Some interactions (where I've found beauty) that I've had with others through the last few days:

-the affirmation of having someone tell me how well another person thinks of me

-spending time having a 2, 3, 4, and 5 year old chase and tickle me, with the tables turning at a drop of a hat

-telling someone else how highly I thought of them the first time I met them
